Social-distancing sensors

DCE has developed a wearable sensor system to warn people when they are too close to another person

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, DCE has developed a wearable sensor system to warn people when they are too close to another person, especially in enclosed workplace spaces such as shops, offices, factories and warehouses.

DCE developed its existing technology, took it off the shelf and retooled it to provide small, wearable sensors which emit a buzzer warning when another sensor wearer is three metres away. If the buzzer is ignored, when the other person is two metres away an alarm sounds.

The sensors allow employees to focus on the task at hand, rather than worrying about what their colleagues are doing and how far away they may be. This is particularly important for personnel engaged in difficult and/or dangerous work.

Social-Distancing Sensors by Digital Concepts Engineering

DCE’s social distancing sensor system provides the following workplace safeguards:

  • alerts personnel to danger when social distancing is breached
  • avoids the cost of redesigning facilities
  • enforces safe social distancing and monitoring
  • helps prevent the spread of infection
  • improves workforce productivity
  • works alongside existing social distancing signage and floor stickers

As businesses look to build their operations back to pre-Coronavirus levels and economic activity increases, DCE’s sensors allow staff to focus on their jobs safely, with increased efficiency and output.
