In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, DCE has developed a wearable sensor system to warn people when they are too close to another person, especially in enclosed workplace spaces such as shops, offices, factories and warehouses.
DCE developed its existing technology, took it off the shelf and retooled it to provide small, wearable sensors which emit a buzzer warning when another sensor wearer is three metres away. If the buzzer is ignored, when the other person is two metres away an alarm sounds.
The sensors allow employees to focus on the task at hand, rather than worrying about what their colleagues are doing and how far away they may be. This is particularly important for personnel engaged in difficult and/or dangerous work.
